It is true, VPI is the only ferret insurer I can find in the U.S. and they don't cover treatment for adrenal disease or (I hear) insulinomas. The UK version of PetPlan is covering exotics, including ferrets. I have heard rumors that several other pet insurers in the UK and Europe also cover ferrets. So what the h** is wrong with the U.S. companies?? The usual lack of foresight and customer service you see across all types of U.S. companies, it seems. I would gladly pay a higher monthly rate (similar to what is paid for dogs) to have more complete coverage for all the problems commonly seen in ferrets. Of course, in the U.S. ferrets have more health problems due to inbreeding at Marshall Farms (the source of most U.S. ferrets). Perhaps we should have class action suit against Marshall Farms to force them to pay for our ferrets' medical bills! Anyone want to try this???
